چکیده

The exploration of cucumber waste as a potential biorefinery feedstock is reported. Initially, extractives (essential oils) were isolated from via vacuum microwave hydro-distillation (VMHD). yield and quality the extractive compared with respect to traditional (HD). essential oils obtained over range power (500, 750, 1000 W) pressures (100, 200, 300 mbar). highest (0.49 wt %) was at irradiation 500 W mbar. VMHD much quicker more energy-efficient than HD. Within context zero-waste biorefinery, extractive-free residues solid two different extraction methods characterized by ATR-IR, 13C solid-state NMR spectroscopy, SEM, TGA, CHN elemental analysis. resultant are cellulosic-rich, no significant changes observed HD treatment. results indicated that utilization these can provide an efficient, inexpensive, environment-friendly platform for production cellulosic materials.
